17 March 2018
29 Jamadil Awwal 1439
It was day 3 of the Annual IMSSA Family Camp. The boys from both the Yishun Boys Hub and Eunos Boys Hub were yearning for theiropportunity to venture around Gardens by the Bay. The Ustads and Ustazs of the Yishun Boys Hub & Eunos Boys Hub had planned for an enriching and productive session at the Gardens by the Bay on 17 March 2018.
After a quick breakfast, the boys set forth for their Hijrah (journey) from Masjid Darul Aman to the Gardens by the Bay. The ‘Amazing Hijarah’ is a re-enactment of our Prophet’s Hijrah from Makkah to Medina. The starting point was from the Gardens by the Bay and ending point was at Marina Barrage.
The entire Hijrah comprise of various checkpoints, whereby the boys had to stop to complete a task at each checkpoint. Each station required the teams to complete either a quiz or a team building activity that were based on Islamic teaching. After completing each checkpoint’s task successfully, the teams received a clue leading them to the succeeding station.
The scorching sun served as a test for the boys. Despite the hot weather, the boys preservered through, which enabled them to relate the weather to the weather in the dessert during Prophet Muhammed (S.A.W)’s Hijrah. As a result, the boys learnt to appreciate the changing weather in Singapore during this era. They also kept an eye out for their friends, so as to ensure that everyone was fine and within close reach.
The ever-energetic boys successfully completed all the checkpoints before lunch. They were rewarded with a splendid lunch under the cool wind, at Marina Barrage. As the weather was suitable for winding down, after lunch, the boys were given time to bond amongst themselves. As a wrapping up activity, the boys played Captains ball and with high energy flowing around, which allowed the boys to know everyone (from both Yishun and Eunos Branches) better.
Towards the end of the ‘Amazing Hijrah’, to quench the thirst of the boys in the sunny weather, the boys were treated to their favourite yummy cup of Mcdonalds Sundae ice-cream that they utterly enjoyed. The boys learnt the essence of the Quran verse from Surah As-, verses 5-6:
فَاِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا
For indeed, with hardship [will be] ease.
اِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا ؕ
Indeed, with hardship [will be] ease.
Through this ‘Amazing Hijrah’ and the activities organised during the entire 4 days, 3 nights camp served as excellent platform for the boys to coordinate amongst the Madrasah branches, develop leadership qualities, strengthen teamwork, and encourage patience and cooperation. In a nutshell, they were able to become as practising Muslims. Alhamdulillah for Allah’s grace for the learning experience gained by the boys and for the strong support from our Parents. May Allah (swt) reward all the volunteers and student leaders for their excellent efforts. Ameen.
