12 Rabi’ul Awwal 1439
Alhamdulillah, as part of our efforts to spread the blessings of our Beloved Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) this Rabi’ul Awwal; through the ‘In the footsteps of my Beloved’ Series II, a mosque expedition was organised by the team on 16 December 2017, Saturday. The aim was to understand the global impacts Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) had made. The important themes covered in this expedition includes the concept of nation or ‘Ummah’, improvements in the standard of living andquality of life in states or countries under Islamic rule during early Islamic ear and empowering women and increasing their status in society.
Our youth volunteers first met at Masjid Darul Aman where they were split into 3 groups and started off with group activities to understand the concept of Ummah and the constitution of Medina. Teams had to come up their version of the constitution after discussion. Later on, they compared their version of constituition with the original constitution; made by Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W).
Teams then proceeded to Masjid Kassim where they learnt how Islam increased its capital revenue through zakat and free trade agreement in Medina. They also discussed the different terms used in Islamic finance such as Sadaqa and Ribaa.
Next, the teams headed to Masjid Mydin where they studied the role of women in Islam, particularly women’s right to education, status of mother and female infanticide and how Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) changed social norms, acted as the voice of women and empowered them in a patriarchalsociety.
Finally, the teams headed to Masjid Al-Ansar for conclusion, debrief and reflections. Each team shared the lessons it had learnt about the impacts made by Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) s.a.w. on the global community. Indeed, it was a fruitful expedition that enabled the youth to understand different roles our beloved Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) played.
