Alhamdulillah, Celebrating IMSSA’s Talents marked a very fulfilling year for all of us. From all the Ustazahs’ hard work throughout the year, to seeing the students go up on stage to receive their well-deserved prizes, everything came full circle.
Prevention is BETTER than Cure…Have we not heard this? But, are we doing our best to prevent certain health conditions? Are we giving our best to get to our problems earlier and solving the issue? These important factors affect not only our personal problems but to our health as well.
Prevention is BETTER than Cure
Prevention is of course the best for maintaining good Health. But, screening ourselves for certain health conditions like High cholesterol, Diabetes, Cancers play an important role in our quality of life.
As part of National Breast Cancer Awareness month, IMSSA’s Healthcare Department organised a talk on breast cancer on the 22nd Oct 2017 at Masjid An-Nahdhah and Masjid Darul Makmur, concurrently. This health talk was attended by about 100 attendees and it created awareness on the importance of Breast Self Examination and Mammogram screening.
To be part of the National Breast Cancer Awareness month and to also ensure we followed-up on the awareness created, we then organized a mammogram screening on the 11th Nov 2017 at Masjid An-Nahdhah from 9am till 4pm. We collaborated with National Healthcare Group Diagnostics for the mammogram. We then got the participants to register for the mammogram screening based on the eligibility criteria.
The talk and the Mammogram screening were well received by the attendees. Those eligible for the mammogram screening were glad that we also followed up on their screening and that they did not have to go for screening alone by themselves.
What comes to you of good is from Allah, but what comes to you of evil, [O man], is from yourself. And We have sent you, [O Muhammad], to the people as a messenger, and sufficient is Allah as Witness.
Surah An-Nissa, 4: Verse 79
