19th and 20th November 2016
The Guest-of-Honour for the event was the Advisor of Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC Grassroots Organisations, Mr. Saktiandi Supaat (MP for Bishan-Toa Payoh). During the 2 days event that was held on 19th and 20th November 2016, on the first day, IMSSA integrated Rahmatan Lil Alamin (RLA) project into the Carnival by volunteering to conduct home-makeover for 2 low-income families, identified by RLA from CNMC (Central North Mosque Cluster). It was a humbling experience for our volunteers as they realised that they have been blessed with reasonably good living standards.
On the following day, IMSSA hosted her events in Bishan Active Park, from 10am to 6pm, which aided families to further strengthen their bonds. There was a strong support from families that IMSSA received more than 1000 participants out of which 100 were members of low-income families, under the Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC. These families that were identified by the CCs under the GRC had their tickets sponsored by IMSSA
The tickets permitted participants both females and males to engage in 15 Carnival Booths managed by IMSSA’s volunteers. The booths brought out the child in every patron via its joyful game booths, Photo-booth and, Henna, Popcorn, Candy Floss and Ice-Cream booths. Carnival without inflatable Bouncy Castle is inevitable! Thus, the Carnival that included the child-friendly inflatable bouncy castles served as a centre of attraction for children, who revolved around it to replay for hours.
Additionally, as a component of Health Fiesta that aimed to promote healthy lifestyle, IMSSA also conducted her annual Sports Day. The youth ranging from Pre-School to Tertiary levels were encouraged to participate in the competitions that they were eagerly looking forward to commence. Though the rainy weather resulted in alternative venues to be sought for the various Sports competitions and required resumption of the Sports competitions beyond the initial program schedule, the patient and understanding participants made the Sports Day a success!
As the last segment of the day, IMSSA hosted her Talent-Time Competition’s Finals with 24 finalists from Madrasah As-Soabereen’s Yishun and Bishan branches. As an initiative to further groom our young talents beyond academics and religious knowledge, IMSSA launched her 3-months long Talent-Time competition that commenced with auditions in September. As students progressed with each round, individuals were continually groomed to be confident individuals.
Eventually, in IMSSA’s very first outdoor-held competition, the audience were amazed by the outstanding performances by IMSSA’s young talents.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude and appreciation to families, Ustazahs and Ustads who have played a major role in grooming young talents and for everyone who have contributed in a way or another, to make this event a major success. We shall continue to work together. Jazakallah khairan.
