15 Safar 1439
Alhamdulillah, Celebrating IMSSA’s Talents marked a very fulfilling year for all of us. From all the Ustazahs’ hard work throughout the year, to seeing the students go up on stage to receive their well-deserved prizes, everything came full circle.
To celebrate the occasion, the kids came dressed in their colourful outfits. The event began at 2.15pm, and many parents came down to join the fun as well. Up till 4pm, there was an array of performances and audience games.
There was a wide range of performances that commenced with recitation of Surah Ar-Rahman from verse 1 to verse 16 with 3 different Tarannum by our blooming Qariahs students. The highlight of the performances was the ending the recitation by 3 young Qariahs reciting Verse 16 in 3 different Tarannum. Along with the meaning of the verse, it was a chord striking instance for the audience.
َفَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
A skit titled “Dilemma: World or the Hereafter”, performed by the Primary 5 and 6 girls served as food for thought; serving as an opportunity to raise awareness on the importance of seeking knowledge and for parents to support their students in their quest. Among others included a soulful Nasheed – Rabbana By Labbayk by our Primary 3 Boys and a sharing session on ‘Liyafath’ by our Primary and Secondary girls; allowing the children to reminisce the many occasions whereby the ustazahs shared food with the students and likewise, the children too. To emphasis the theme of spreading liyafath, a special touch was added by sending class representatives to share a number of basketful of goodie bags with the audience; specially packed by the students of Level 2.
To recall on the emphasis Islam has given to preservere through the ni’mah (responsibility) tasked to each individual, a fantastic skit titled “The Belly of a Whale”, which told the story of Prophet Yunus (a.s), was staged by the Primary1 Girls.
O you who have believed, upon you is [responsibility for] yourselves. Those who have gone astray will not harm you when you have been guided. To Allah is your return all together; then He will inform you of what you used to do.
Surah Al-Ma’idah, 5: Verse 105
The youngest talents in the Madrasah also shone on the stage with their adorable singing of the Arabic Nursery rhyme, “Twinkle Twinkle”, which was followed by a soulful baith performance by the Qirath students. As an icing to the cake, a talent time showcase by our Kindergartners ended the first segment of the day.
Masha Allah, all the performances were amazing. Some of the performers had many creative props with them to enhance their storytelling, while others mesmerized the audience with their voices. Kudos especially, to the class Ustazahs, who had ensured that the students were well-prepared and had started practicing with them weeks in advance.
Aside, different types of interesting games were also conducted during intervals of the performances, so as to keep them entertained; 4 Pictures and 1 Hadith/ Qur’an Ayat, Heads Up, Who Am I?
Everyone had a break from 4pm till 5pm, to finish their Asar prayers and have some refreshments. There was a sumptuous spread of food and drinks for the day, that were generously contributed by our students’ parents.
At 5pm, everyone reconvened for the second half of the programme – the much-awaited Prize Giving Ceremony! There were tables filled with trophies, plaques, medals, and hampers to be given out to the students. Alhamdulillah, it was heartwarming to see the parents getting excited and taking videos of their children on stage.
We ended the day with the students receiving their end-of-year examination papers together with their report cards for the year.
Special mention must be made for all the behind-the-scenes work that went on prior to the event. The décoration team, prizes team, food team and programmes team, who have all put in a lot of effort to make it a success. Door gifts were specially sourced and prepared as well.
All in all, Celebrating IMSSA’s Talents was an homage to a year of growth – both for our students as well as Madrasah As-Soabereen as a whole. To greater heights, Insya’Allah.
