High Tea with Ummi ‘My Mother & Me’

Mother’s Day; A day of appreciation and happiness for our Mothers.

Yishun Ladies Hub organized High Tea with Ummi for our beloved mothers on the 7th of May 2017 to appreciate and celebrate their Motherhood. The theme for this year’s High Tea with Ummi is “My Mother & Me”.

With an exciting array of performance as well as games lined up for our mothers, we started off the day with a melodious Tarannum recitation by our very own Primary 5 student, Nawsheen. Following that, we had a short game of ‘Bingo!’ where our Mothers had an opportunity to mingle with each other and get to know one another better.

Following, our respected Hazrath gave a short speech about Mothers and their importance in Islam as well as the hardwork that mothers put into the upbringing of their children. With that came the most anticipated part of the day! The Children’s Performance! The Mothers were very enthusiastic to watch their beloved daughters perform on stage regarding the month of Ramadan. The performance was a combination of a skit and a Nasheed on the common activities during the month of Ramadan.

To further emphasise our spirit of Ramadan, we had a short speech by Ustazah Meera who introduced this year’s Iftars to our mothers. To end off the first part of the day, we had short game called “Guess It Right!”

After that, Mothers were ushered to the break area to have their break which consisted of scrumptious Ghee Rice with Chicken Sambal, as well as other savouries and desserts. Mothers were seated with their daughters during this meal and were given as opportunity to bond over food. And as Prophet Muhammad (SAW) has said, “Eat together and not separately, for the blessing is associated with the company”. Alhamdulillah, eating as a Jamaah will surely create a bond among us.

Following that, everyone went for their  Asar prayers. To regain their enthusiasm, our Emcees played another game with them. With all the mothers’ energy, the enthusiasm returned and in the lead of Ustazah Shamim, a forum took place between our very own parents class. On the topic of “ Modern mothers”. Our mothers were captivated by the evidences found in hadiths and in the Qur’an about Motherhood.

Another game was played to signify the closing of the event for the day. After that, the children flooded the auditorium to present their Mothers with their very own handmade Mother’s Day gifts.

Alhamdulillah it was a very fruitful day for both Mothers and daughter, celebrating mothers as well as welcoming Ramadan, it was a day filled with lots of Barakah.

In Sha Allah, Look forward for more such events!
