On 19 March 2017, last day of IMSSA Family Camp 2017 from 10am to 12pm @ Masjid An-Nahdhah, Bishan, the Parents classes from both Yishun and Bishan Madrasah came together along with IMSSA Healthcare Team to conduct a health talk on the topic “Discover the unexplored world of Eyes” about EYE care and common eye diseases found in Singapore for the attendees.
The talk commenced with Qirath by our very own Primary 4 student Farzana. After that, Mdm.Sofiah shared some interesting facts about Eyes. She introduced the speaker of the day, Miss. Zulfiyah,Diploma in Optometry holder, an optician who is also a volunteer of IMSSA and Miss Imrana, IMSSA Healthcare Team,Assistant Nurse clinician TTSH.
Miss. Zulfiyah kick started her talk by explaining the parts inside an eye and it’s function and she also explained how an eye is connected to the brain. She moved on to share about the most common eye diseases: Myopia, Glaucoma, Diabetic Retinopathy, Hyperopia, Floaters and Flashes, Lazy Eye, Retinal Detachment & other eye conditions. She also gave tips on how to prevent or reduce the spreading of those diseases. Adding on, different preventive measures and management for the different eye conditions were exchanged.
Apart from that, the attendees were able to register themselves for a complimentary eye check to be done in Singapore Polytechnic. The Talk had attendees of more than 80 who were able to clear many doubts pertaining to eye, eye care and eye diseases through the Question & Answer Session which happened at the end of the talk.
This segment was very beneficial for the attendees as they were able to understand on how to manage and care for their eyes when they face certain eye conditions.
Alhamdulillah this health talk was a success in enriching the attendees about eyes and the attendees found it useful and meaningful.
