24 December 2017
20 Rabi’ul Awwal 1439
To end the year on a happy note, on the 24th December 2017, IMSSA’s North Team organized for a Year festive celebration under Yishun Block 702. This was IMSSA’s North Team’s first festive celebration together with the Nee Soon Community. Extended from Blessings To All Team’s theme of “Spreading Happiness this Fesive” , IMSSA’s North Team’s aim was to enlighten the needy and elderly residents at Nee Soon and gear them up for the upcoming year. Hence, residents in the neighboring blocks were invited. Our Guest-of-Honour, Grassroots Advisor Associate Professor Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim embraced this event with his presence.
The event commenced at 9.30 am and lasted till 12.30 pm. The eager residents were indeed punctual for the lucky draw registration as only the first 200 residents were entitled to participate in the lucky draw segment. As a result, the residents participated actively in the various booth set up by our very own IMSSA youth volunteers. This time we had various games and craft activities.
There were three creative craft stations such as Snowman Garland making, Christmas Wreath making and Jingle Bell thumbprint. It was thoughtful of IMSSA volunteers to organise creative craft activities as the residents had an enjoyable time creating their masterpieces.
Celebration without sweet treats? Introducing our Christmas sugar cookies in holiday cut-outs. Our Homemade cookies were freshly baked with 50% sugar is the healthier choice for this holiday season. Our residents customized their holiday cookies with their favorite colored icing. The cookies were so delicious that many of them came back for more!
A wide range of games were planned for this Christmas Party such as musical chairs, Ping Pong Relay, Knockdown Santa and Snowball Rush to get our residents hyped up on a Sunday morning. Age was not a limiting factor as the residents participated enthusiastically while the audience cheered loudly to show their support.
A Christmas themed photo booth was setup for the residents to capture their memories on camera. Free instant photographs were given.
Food is always the best part of every event. An appetizing lunch was prepared and served delightfully by our very own IMSSA volunteers for our residents. There were a variety of food consisting of Ghee rice, Butter chicken, Mixed vegetable, Fried bee hoon, vegetarian porridge and jelly dessert. Many commendations were received by the residents.
The most awaited segment of the event was the lucky draw. Our Guest of Honor Dr Faishal Ibrahim drew ten lots and the lucky winners were awarded attractive prizes. We blissfully ended our event with dedication of Christmas wishes.
Our first Hot Meal Christmas festive celebration with Nee Soon Community was indeed a successful one. IMSSA is thankful for the great opportunity to spread joy within the Nee Soon community during this special occasion. It was a close kneaded gathering with familiar faces everywhere. We are looking forward to more Festive Celebrations in future.
