Bishan Harmony Iftar

Alhamdulillah! After 2 years of an unprecedented pandemic that the world faced, IMSSA finally had the opportunity to host our Central Division Harmony Iftar at Masjid An-Nahdhah. With the grace of Allah s.w.t, it was held on the 26th of March 2023, Sunday. The event was jointly organised by IMSSA’s Central Division Team, Malay Activity Executive Committee (MAEC) from Marymount Community Centre and Masjid An-Nahdhah.

Our Iftar menu consisted of a burger, kuih bingka ubi kayu, curry puff, mini apple, porridge and dates. Our drink sponsors for this event were Vitagen and Marigold who generously sponsored drinks for all our 1700 participants gathered. Our Sahur (pre-dawn meal) menu was ghee rice and mutton masala. The children aged 9 and below received their own kids meal consisting of burger, dates, wedges, brownie, strawberry cream roll and apple.

All the preparations for the Harmony began the day before. The spices, vegetables and drinks were delivered, and the venue for the event was decorated. On the day of the event, cooking started after the cooking team had their pre-dawn meal, starting with preparation for porridge. After the food was prepared, various groups of volunteers gathered and started to pack food into the food containers. Subsequently, the food was laid out for the guests.

In addition to providing meals for our iftar’s guests, nearly 950 pax of porridge and packed food were distributed to Masjid Darul Makmur, Masjid Assyafaah and Choa Chu Kang. Volunteers from Catholic High School, Deyi Secondary School, Singapore Management University (SMU) and the GOPIO team also came in to give a helping hand.

There were 1700 participants who attended our harmony iftar. All the guests started arriving from 6 p.m onwards and many of them were thrilled by the extensive spread of food prepared for break of fast and eagerly anticipated the break of fast time. At 7.16 p.m, all the guests and volunteers from different walks of lives joined together in the breaking of fast once the call (Azan) for the break of fast was made.

We would like to thank everyone who has been part of our event, giving us your continuous support and a helping hand in making this a successful event.

As for those who struggle in Our cause, We will surely guide them along Our Way. And Allah is certainly with the good-doers.
