Fourth of November marked the last milestone for the year 2018 – Madrasah As-Soabereen (Bishan Girls) celebrated their annual Prize Presentation Ceremony with the theme, “Glowing Stars”. The objective was to recognize growing talents. Some were awarded for their academic and character progress, whereas others showcased their performative skills.

“Glowing Stars” programme was split into two sessions. The first session was kindly graced by Masjid An-Nahdhah’s chairman, Ustaz Ali, who kick-started the event with an inspiring speech. Thereafter, a beautiful recitation was made by the Qirath team from Lower Primary.

Then, the Prize Presentation ceremony followed which recognised talents from the Lower Primary level where Ustaz Ali presented the prizes to the prize winners. Subsequently, the Pre-schoolers were also awarded for various achievements such as for excellent character, Surah and/or Yaasin memorisation and advancing to Quran. It was inspirational to see many of the Pre-schoolers go up on stage to receive awards. At a very young age, they are able to grasp many Arabic concepts! The session was concluded with the Nursery students showcasing their talents on stage that left many awe-stricken.

The guests were later greeted with an array of food prepared by the Ustazahs. The break-time enabled the parents to catch up and get to know fellow parents and their child’s Ustazahs.

Soon after, the second session of “Glowing Stars” commenced with a video titled, ‘A day at level 2’ that allowed parents to better understand how each child spends their time on a Sunday afternoon. Thereafter, a beautiful Quran recitation by the Upper Primary to Secondary levels’ class representatives attested to the fact that their weekly Tajweed lessons had been effective.

Thereafter, the Prize Presentation Ceremony resumed for Upper Primary, Secondary and Parents classes. The students were appreciated for being class toppers, most improved and for memorizing at least 1 Juz or more. To enrich guests, different classes shared on Dhiyafath, their favourite Quran ayats and their learning journeys for the academic year 2018. In a nutshell, the parents were better able to appreciate the curriculum their child has undergone for the entire year.

This event annually acknowledges the effort and hard work put up by the students. Indeed, it was a joy to see the smiles on each and every student upon receiving the prizes. We look forward to continuously working with parents and students to provide opportunities for growing talents to glow brighter

“اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا وَعَمَلاً مُتَقَبَّلاً”

Umm Salamah (R.A) that when the Prophet Muhammed (S.A.W) performed the Subh (morning prayer), while he said the Salam, he would say:
“Oh Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, goodly provision and acceptable deeds.”
