Hari Raya Light Up Volunteering

The “Hari Raya Light Up” event that was jointly organised by People’s Association and Wisma Geylang Serai was indeed a new experience for all volunteers. The main tasks involved ushering and overseeing the registration booth. A total of 16 volunteers came down to partake in this event.

Through this event, the volunteers ensured that everything carried on in an orderly manner through efficient crowd control. This event which required a lot of planning had taught them on effective team work skills. Our volunteers also learnt that communication is key to make sure there is proper understanding among all. Due to the overwhelming number of people, all of them had to work together swiftly and direct the public to their respective seats. Alhamdulillah, the opportunity was a good platform for them to learn these skills.

Certainly, Allah SWT has mentioned in the Al-Quran, Surah Aal-Imraan, ayah 114,

وَيَأْمُرُونَ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ ٱلْمُنكَرِ وَيُسَـٰرِعُونَ فِى ٱلْخَيْرَٰتِ

and they enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and hasten to good deeds.
