Inter-Class Tarannum Competition 2016

18th September 2016

This year, the Annual Tarannum Competition took place on the 18th of September 2016 (Sunday), at Masjid An-Nahdhah from 2.00 pm to 6.30 pm. This inter-class competition was organised by the Girls Qirath Team of Bishan. Alhamdulilah, it was well received with a total turnout of over 300 people attending this year’s competition.

Apart from establishing a platform for pupils to recite the Quran with proper Pronounciation, Tajweed and Tarannum, this year, the team also had several other objectives. It aimed to increase the competitiveness amongst classes by allowing more pupils to participate across different classes and levels. It also targeted Ustazahs to take ownership of training their own pupils and improve their own Quran recitation at the same time. Most importantly, it served to bring the pupils closer to the Quran by constantly engaging them with the practice of reciting the Quran melodiously in the long term for the sake of Allah.

This year, the inter-class competition was split into 2 sessions with a record total of 42 participants across 8 categories:

  • Pre-School
  • Lower Primary
  • Middle Primary
  • Upper Primary/Lower Secondary
  • Upper Secondary & Tertiary
  • Hifz Girls
  • Helpers Level 2
  • Helpers Level 3

Indeed it had been a long journey for the participants of the competition. These participants were specially selected by their own Ustazahs to represent their respective classes in this competition. The two sessions kick-started with an Al-Fatihah recitation. Thereafter, pupils from various levels started reciting.

The guests also feasted on a sumptuous in-house biryani meal during their break. This was in conjunction with Eidul-Adha celebrations. All pupils were also cladded in their Hari Raya clothing in this joyous gathering.

Finally, the much awaited results too came as the winners were announced.

Alhamdulilah, we would like to extend our gratitude to all the ustazahs who have mentored the participants. We also would like to thank the parents who had taken time to conscientiously push the children at home and support them in the development towards Quran recitations. Finally, we would like to thank the judges and everyone else who had taken their time off to come and support the children during the event, Jazakallah Khair.

In Sha Allah, we hope to continually groom our future generations to be Qaris and Qariahs who not just recite the Quran in a melodious manner, but also apply it in their lives for the sake of Allah.
