National Day Celebration @ Masjid An-Nahdhah

06 August 2023

Alhamdulillah, Bishan Division celebrated our nation’s 58th birthday with various games and snacks. We are definitely grateful to spend our time at Masjid An-Nahdhah to be thankful for our Nation’s freedom and remind the students what Rasuallah (saw) mentioned.

وَإِذْ قَالَ إِبْرَٰهِيمُ رَبِّ ٱجْعَلْ هَٰذَا ٱلْبَلَدَ ءَامِنًا

And [mention, O Muḥammad], when Abraham said, “My Lord, make this city secure and safe.”

~ Surah Ibrahim 14: Ayah 35.

All students, Ustads, Ustazahs were in all shades of red and white!

Ma Sha Allah, each level had plenty of exciting games and mini old snacks stations setup such as the wheel kerepok, colourful wafer biscuits, ice gem biscuits and Bororo biscuits.

As for the activities, our youngest ones lined up, where they were splitted into smaller groups, and accompanied by a ustazah each for the games. The games included snakes and ladders, 5 stones, spin tops, as well as shape games. We also included a fun craft activity where the kids got to do a custom visor with their own designs/national day related designs. While involving the kids in the activities, we also got to bring them into the history of Singapore, and incalcate the character of being thankful in them, for being able to live in such a safe and harmonious country! The little ones definitely had lots of fun gaining new knowledge, exploring new food, and getting hands-on with our local games! Alhamdulillah!

Our Lower Primary kids made yummy red velvet cake deco. With the help of their ustazahs, the young ones shared the joy with other ustazahs. Our Middle Primary students went on an amazing treasure hunt adventure on Singapore history. Upper Primary to Tertiary Girls had an exciting quiz buzzer via Kahoot where they got to learn new information about Singapore. The boys level had plenty of fun activities that were long forgotten traditional games like Country Eraser and Pick-Up Sticks.

Oh yes! Not forgetting our mass celebration at Level 1 atrium where we raised up for our National song and pledge. Thereafter, students had a mini trivia challenge. The kids excitedly raced to answer questions and win a token. To wrap the whole celebration, we sang along to this year’s NDP theme song – Shine Your Light.  Once again Happy Birthday Singapore! 🇸🇬
