Paya Lebar Buka Puasa 2023

On the 25th March 2023, after the COVID-19 hiatus, our “Paya Lebar Buka Puasa” event at Paya Lebar Kovan Community Centre and Kovan Hub was the first Iftar for 2023! And for the first time, we had the opportunity to reach out to the Northeast side of Singapore. Alhamdulillah! We worked hand-in-hand with Paya Lebar Aljunied MAEC to make this event a wonderful success.

With the core intention to spread joy and love through food this Ramadan, we gathered a total of 2200 people across the various venues. Specifically, we cooked for 1000 guests at Kovan Hub and for 800 guests and 200 children at Paya Lebar Kovan CC. In addition, we also prepared 150 porridge sets and 50 Iftar Bento sets for Masjid An-Nahdhah as part of their own break of fast event.

In this event, the Iftar menu consisted of Jeera Rice, Butter Chicken, Samosa, Cheese tart, Longan fruits, Dates, Kueh Lapis, and Ribena Jelly. Food preparations had started as early as the day before at Paya Lebar Kovan CC with several volunteers who took time off to lend a helping hand. The Community Welfare Subcommittee’s cooking team were also activated in cooking of the dishes. Mashallah, it was heartening to witness the whole volunteer team come together to pack and distribute the bento sets.

Alhamdulillah, all in all, it was beautiful to see people of different races coming together to break fast as one community altogether! Together in Harmony!
