Tilawatul Qur’an (Girls)

Madrasah As-Soabereen strives to achieve excellence in its pupils’ Quranic recitation and memorization. As part of its effort to continuously improve pupils’ recitation, a specialized team of Ustazahs work on providing rigorous trainings.

Since the inception of Madrasah As-Soabereen in 2004, recital competitions were uncommon. However, in 2006, the recital competition that was organised saw pupils competing amongst themselves within their own respective classes. This was seen as stepping stone to identify talented pupils and maximize their potential. As the years progressed, the standard of recitation slowly improved. Eventually, competitive competitions, either amongst various classes and/or across Bishan and Yishun, became an annual affair since 2009.

The annual competitive competitions motivated repeated participants to be inclined in their Quranic recitation, raising the standards yearly. As a result, this inspired new participants in the respective years’ competition to hone their Quranic recitations, so as to meet the annually rising standards.

In the early years from 2009, such extra classes saw a class size of barely 20 pupils. Furthermore, we lacked trainers who could recite well enough to train the kids. Conversely, as the Madrasah progressed and more talented pupils were groomed, the number of trainers increased and classes have either doubled or even tripled, today. Now, we have many pupils who are keen to improve their Quranic recitation by learning to incorporate melody, accurate pronunciation and application of Tajweed rules.

To offer trainings that best suits each student’s ability, who are under the programme, the students are assigned to groups according to their differing abilities. Ustazahs provide training that caters to the learning progress of each group. For pupils who have mastered a specific number of Tajweed rules, emphasis on applying the rules and reciting the Quran with rhythm is continually reinforced. Furthermore, to stretch pupils reciting capacity and to enable them to diversify their recitation styles, students are also challenged to emulate well-known Qaris and Qariahs.

The programme thrives on providing both audio, video and written materials as follows:
♦ Videos and Audios of Famous Qaris and Qariahs all over the world
♦ Comprehensive Tajweed Notes
♦ Tajweed Practice Worksheets
♦ Quizzes & Examinations

Madrasah As-Soabereen has come a long way in establishing such a rigorous training platform that provides extra training lessons, to ensure that pupils had continual recitation practice to hone and further develop their recitation skills by
Integrating within curriculum, the teaching and learning of Tajweed
Organizing annual competitions, with a range of categories, for pupils to compete accordingly
Conducting focused group training; on voice modulation and breath control
Devising and executing extra recital lessons to hone good recitation skills, via drills and practices

Tilawatul Quran Competitions have been taking place in Madrasah As-Soabereen amongst differing target groups, so as to allow more students to participate and further develop their potential. The competitions held thus far include:
Inter-Class Tarannum Competition (Madrasah As-Soabereen: Bishan Girls)
♦ Inter-Class Tarannum Competition (Madrasah As-Soabereen: Yishun Girls)
Tarannum Competition (Madrasah As-Soabereen: Bishan and Yishun Girls)
♦ Ustazahs’ Challenge 2018 (Madrasah As-Soabereen: Bishan, Eunos and Yishun Girls)
Tarannum Competition (Madrasah As-Soabereen: Eunos Girls)

Alhamdulilah, we would like to extend our gratitude to all the Ustazahs who have mentored the pupils and also the parents who have been taking time to conscientiously push the children at home and continuously support them in the development towards Quran recitations. This indeed has allowed the Quranic recital growth and improvement amongst pupils. In Sha Allah, we hope to groom our future generations to be Qaris and Qariahs who recite the Quran in a melodious manner for the sake of Allah and apply it in their lives.

If you have any queries, or would like your child to be part of our team, relate it to the respective Ustazah, in the level your child is in.
