Collaboration with the Down Syndrome Association – Session #2

Alhamdulillah, we kicked off our second session on Saturday, July 29th.

What an amazing Saturday morning it was! We all came together with excitement and joy to spend our time at the Down Syndrome Association with the beneficiaries.

We went all out to prepare activities for the beneficiaries following the theme of Racial Harmony Day Special!

To break the ice, we started by introducing ourselves and got ourselves creative with a scratch card designing activity. Each of us were able to express our individuality by drawing something that represented our favourite thing. Furthermore, sharing those drawings with one another was a great way to learn more about each other’s interests!

Following that, we had an absolutely thrilling session packed with energizing short workout videos to get our bodies moving!

After refreshing ourselves with a quick water break, we eagerly took our seats, put on our gloves and ready to embark on the exciting journey of creating our very own Cendol bowls!

Excitingly, each beneficiary enthusiastically took their turn to prepare their bowls, resulting in a truly delightful experience that was customised to their unique preferences and ultimate enjoyment!

Then, we sat down to indulge in its heavenly deliciousness. Alhamdulillah!

We also had a DIY Bunga Manggar activity. It was so much fun getting creative and making our own beautiful decorations. Everyone got involved and the results were stunning!

The beneficiaries could bring back their colourful Bunga Manggar decorations home to show their loved ones too!

Concluding the session, we prepared for them a few old school snacks such as the ice gems, egg boro biscuits and wheel crackers, giving them an opportunity to relive their childhood days too!

With that, the session ended on a happy note with everyone bringing back a paper bag filled with old school snacks and their bunga manggar! We hope all the beneficiaries who attended our session enjoyed it. <3

We are ever thankful to Allah s.w.t. for giving us this opportunity to get to know more about the Down Syndrome beneficiaries living amongst us in this society. In sha Allah, here’s to more exciting and engaging sessions in the future!

O humanity! Indeed, We created you from a male and a female and made you into peoples and tribes so that you may get to know one another.
