Rabiul Awwal Exhibition 2023 – Spread Salaam amongst yourselves!

Alhamdulillah, this year’s Rabiul Awwal Exhibition was brought back to Masjid An-Nahdhah on 8th October (Rabiul Awwal 22). This exhibition was held in line with the series “In The Footsteps Of My Beloved 8”. This year’s exhibition revolved around the theme of:

“Spread Salaam amongst yourselves –

This year’s theme was inspired by the following hadith:

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah, “By Him in Whose Hand my soul is! You will not enter Jannah until you believe, and you shall not believe until you love one another. May I inform you of something, if you do, you love each other, Promote Salam amongst you.

[Muslim]

The objectives of this exhibition was:

  1. To share about how Salaam can be spread through our Rabb, individuals & communities & even learn about Daar-us-Salaam
  2. To inspire our students to spread Salaam just the way our Beloved (s.a.w) did!

There were in total six stations put together to thoroughly explore the theme of Spreading Salaam at various levels. To better facilitate the students in following along with the different stations, there were exhibition booklets printed that were designed by our dear Ustazahs.

And, who doesn’t love a good welcome gift at an event? Hence, we had prepared customised post-it notes that were handed out to all participants.

Station #1: Spreading Peace through our Rabb

In this booth, a magnificent Du’a hand structure was created to remind us that when we face tough times, all we need to do is to turn to Allah (s.w.t) and make a heartfelt Du’a. In return, it will bring upon us peace, Salaam.

It also highlighted a powerful Du’a, which is as follows:

اللهُمَّ أَنَتَ السَّلَامَ وَمِنْكَ السَّلَأمَ وَإِلَيْكَ يَعُوْدُ السَّلَامَ

O’ Allah! You are Peace. And from you is Peace. And to you, we return Peace.

This also reminds us that Allah (s.w.t) is the main provider of peace. Alhamdulillah!

Station #2: Spreading Peace through Individuals

In this booth, we focused on how Rasulullah (s.a.w) teach to be peaceful with one another during tough times & how did the Muslims support one another too! These reminders can’t be better represented than in Masjid Nabawi.

There was an interactive activity in this booth, where there were scenarios given and students had the opportunity to feel what it’s like to knock on Allah (s.w.t)’s doors and ask for help.

In return, Allah (s.w.t) gives us advices through his words in the Qur’an!

Alhamdulillah!

What an amazing way to teach children to go back to Allah (s.w.t) in times of difficulty & happiness!

Station #3: Spreading Peace through Tribes/Communities

After seeing how Salaam is spread through our Rabb, amongst individuals, in this booth, students managed to discover how Salaam was spread through tribes & communities too.

We discovered the history behind the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah, Kaaba Arbitration, the Medina Charter and also the Migration to Abyssinia.

It was such an eye-opener to learn that the Medina Charter is a blueprint for promoting Racial Harmony! How similar it is to Singapore in terms of building a united community that feel comfortable and safe with one another!

Alhamdulillah!

Station #4: Daar-as-Salaam

It was such a pleasant experience for all participants to feel like they are in Jannah as they sat around the Kawther waterfall and fountain set-up.

Participants reached out into the water with the net to catch a ping pong ball that had some characters written on them. These characters were something small that if we follow, we could enter Jannah!

There was also a treasure box to depict that our rewards for our actions are with Allah (s.w.t) when we meet Him in Jannah.

Ma sha Allah!

Station #5: What’s YOUR pledge to spread peace?

There was a big collage of a smiley face, using the pictures of individuals’ smiles. Participants could pen down how they would like to spread peace just like our Beloved (s.a.w) too!

This station’s objective was to follow our Beloved’s sunnah of spreading Smile.

“Do not consider any act of kindness insignificant, even meeting your brother with a cheerful face.”

 [Mishkat al-Masabih 1894]

Station #6: Spread Salaam & Give Food to others

Parents class came together to prepare food & drinks that were favourites of our Beloved (s.a.w).

This booth brought to alive the following hadith:

أَفْشُوا السَّلاَمَ وَأَطْعِمُوا الطَّعَامَ

“Spread (the greeting of) Salam, offer food (to the needy)”

[Sunan Ibn Majah 3252]

Not forgetting our class and level photographs taken in front of the banner and the camel!

In Sha Allah, let us all continue to follow the footsteps of our Beloved (s.a.w) and grow the love we have for Him!

The journey ahead awaits us! #InTheFootstepsOfMyBelovedSeries9
